Answers

1. Is there a way to swiftly go back to today's date? What additional quick navigation shortcuts are available?

Clicking the digit 2 button will take you back to today's date. The buttons 1 and 3 will move one month backwards and forward respectively in all of Papyrus Calendar views.

Use the D-Pad left and right navigation buttons to move to the respective previous and next time period for each of the views (previous/next day on the Daily view, week on the Grid view etc.)

2. What additional shortcuts does Papyrus support?

In addition to the shortcuts above, you can enjoy these additional functional shortcuts:

  • (4), (5), (6) - On the Daily/List view - Copy, Cut, Paste respectively.
  • (7) - Set a category for an item on the Daily/List views.
  • (8) - Go to previously used view (like "Back" button on Smartphones).
  • (9), (#) - Scroll up/ Scroll down on the Monthly view quick list.
  • (0) - Toggle Momthly view quick list on/off.
  • (*) - Creates a new meeting in all views except for the Tasks view. On the tasks view it creates a new task.


  • Additoinal shortcuts available for phones with a QWERTY keyboard:

  • (CNTRL+N) - Creates a new meeting.
  • (CNTRL+T) - Creates a new task.
  • (CNTRL+A) - Creates a new anniversary.
  • (CNTRL+R) - Creates a new reminder.


  • 3. How can I enter Papyrus Settings section?

    After launching Papyrus press the left soft-key Menu button and choose the Settings option.

    4. How can I determine the exact Papyrus version I'm running?

    First open Papyrus Settings, then press the left soft-key Options button and choose the option About to bring the Papyrus About screen dialog.

    Within the Papyrus About screen dialog you will find the complete version and build details for the current Papyrus version installed.

    5. I just purchased a license of Papyrus and received my registration information. Where should I enter this information?

    After purchasing the application online you will receive your registration details, these registration details (username and key) should be entered to complete the registration process of the application. When Papyrus first loads, there is a 12 day trial period message which comes up on the first screen when you launch Papyrus.

    To enter the registration dialog, press the left soft-key Register button within the initial trial-message screen.

    Within the Registration dialog you will find two edit fields. Enter the username and key you received within the two fields and press the left soft-key OK button to complete the registration process.

    6. How can I use the My Text feature to create new items more efficiently?

    Papyrus My Text allow faster insertion of pre-defined strings when creating new items. When creating a new appointment or task set the input focus on the subject or location fields and press the left soft-key Options button, then choose the Insert -> My Text option. This will open up the My Text selection dialog allowing to swiftly choose My Text strings, after selecting one of the My Text items the selected My Text will be appended to the current field text.

    My Text fields can be selected by moving the highlight between items using the D-Pad Up/Down navigation buttons or by pressing the corresponding digit button for each My Text item for faster insertion of My Text items.

    7. Can I customize My Text fields for my personal commonly used strings?

    Yes. Customizing My Text fields can be done from the same form that is used to insert a My Text into a field. When creating a new appointment or task, press the left soft key Options button, then choose the Insert -> My Text option.

    Stand on the My Text field you want to customize and press the left soft key Menu button, then choose the More option. Changing the text will save it for future usage.

    8. Can I dial phone numbers included with my appointments and tasks?

    Yes. Any phone number string included within any of your appointments or tasks subject, location or note fields can be highlighted and dialed when opening the items in view mode.

    When opening an item for viewing all dial-able phone numbers included in the item Subject, Location or Note fields will be marked in blue text. Use the D-Pad Up/Down navigation buttons to move the highlight between all dial-able phone numbers. Pressing the center D-Pad Action button on the currently highlighted phone number will initiate a phone call to that phone number.

    9. How can I switch between Papyrus views?

    Papyrus right soft key button is used as a views-rotation button. Use this button to swiftly rotate through the different Papyrus views, each press takes you to the following Papyrus view in a rotating order. The right soft-key button caption shows the upcoming view title and will change upon each press of this button to the next upcoming view.

    Alternatively, press the left Menu soft key and open the Views popup menu to jump to any view directly.

    10. How can I customize which views are active when rotating between views using the left views-rotation soft key button?

    Enter Papyrus Settings and choose the General Settings menu item. Scroll down to the View Rotation Button option.

    Use this check boxes list to choose which views are active in the views-rotation button. Use this feature to configure only your commonly used views for faster rotation between your most used views. Regardless to this option you can still access all other views through the Menu -> Views popup menu.

    11. What is the Set Special Event option in the Category Settings?

    Special Event categories are categories that have a color set to them, and are defined as Special Event.

    Any day on the Grid and Monthly view including an item with these categories will be colored with the special event category color. This is very useful to quickly distinguish between days on the Grid and Monthly view and can be used to mark holidays and other special events.

    To set a category as a Special Event do the following: Enter Papyrus Settings and choose the Category Settings option. Choose a category which you use and set a color to it by pressing the left soft key Options button then choosing the Set Color option. Now choose Set Special Event from the Options menu which will add a small cross icon to the category.

    This will update the Grid and Monthly views immediately with the new colors, according to the category set.

    12. Which platform configurations does Papyrus support?

    Papyrus runs on Symbian S60 phones. Papyrus supports any configuration that can be synced between a computer and the phone. In addition, Papyrus has explicit support for MS Exchange syncing and iSync/iCal syncing which sync calendar items a bit differently than Nokia PC Suite. These additional syncing settings can be changed by following these steps:

    Enter Papyrus Settings and choose the General Settings menu item. The syncing options can be found under the Sync Option.

    13. What does Papyrus sync against?

    Papyrus uses the Nokia calendar as its back-end, so whatever is synced to the phone will be updated in Papyrus. Changes made in Papyrus will update the Nokia calendar and get synced back to the computer.
