Today’s new update isn’t about new features, but instead, we took a short time-out to focus on pending fixes and packed them with today’s new updates. While you probably won’t find super-exciting new features with this post, these new updates should work smoother & more optimized than any previous SafeWallet version, and above all, this should help us continue build strong infrastructure that will help us move forward towards more exciting features!

As with all our previous updates, today’s new updates (for all different platforms) are available as free updates to all of our registered users.

Without any further ado, let’s start reviewing what’s new!

SafeWallet for Windows v2.4.2 – maintenance update

1.BlackBerry syncing problem fixed – Ever since the introduction of online-identities (/website logins) support with the new SafeWallet browser integration, BlackBerry users felt left out due to a bug that prevented them from syncing their new Websites folder content to their BlackBerry phones. Today’s new update includes the necessary fix (both on the Windows side and BlackBerry side) that lets BlackBerry users enjoy the new online-identities feature with their BlackBerry phone too!

Starting with today’s new release, when syncing SafeWallet for Windows with SafeWallet for BlackBerry the Websites folder content will sync properly over to our SafeWallet BlackBerry client.

* BlackBerry users – Please note you also need to update your BlackBerry SafeWallet client to the new version – posted in this post below.

2. Firefox add-on start-up problem fixed – With our last version, Firefox 3.6.x users were getting a message asking them to install SafeWallet for Windows, even though it was already installed on their machine. This bug was located and fixed.

3. SafeWallet search improved – Starting with this new version, when searching through your wallet for specific card, the search will also look for results in your Websites folder – helping you easily locate different site logins that are stored in your wallet. In addition, the SafeWallet search algorithm was optimized even more to achieve blazing-fast search performance (on top of the existing super-fast searching).

4. New SafeWallet logo – As announced with the recent iPad & iPhone SafeWallet update, our SafeWallet logo received a cool update and looks tons cooler and more professional now. With this new release we updated our logo graphics everywhere it is used in the Windows, Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer and BlackBerry SafeWallet clients.

5. Code optimization and minor fixes – In addition to all of this, we also did a lot of code optimization and various different fixes across the different SafeWallet clients that are included as part of this new release.

6. BlackBerry client adds Websites folder support – Our BlackBerry client was badly missing support for the recently added Websites folder, the folder storing all online identities that are automatically added by the SafeWallet Browser add-ons.  Starting with today’s new update, BlackBerry SafeWallet fully supports the Websites folder and will display all your online-identities following your first sync with SafeWallet for Windows. (Assuming that you have at least one web-site login stored in your wallet).

We hope this will help many of our users who have been looking forward for this addition for a while now. We apologize for the delay it took us to include this addition on the BlackBerry side.

For the past several months our BlackBerry team has been working in full force on a brand new BlackBerry application and we are almost ready to get started with our new application beta testing stages. As part of the preparations, we are posting here a call for BlackBerry users that would like to join our upcoming beta group.

If you would like to join the new BlackBerry beta group, please post back with your BlackBerry device model and OS version. We are mainly looking for users with BlackBerry OS 4.6 or higher. We will be sending out beta group invitations  in the next couple of days – as soon as everything will be ready to get started with the beta testing.

We hope to get started with the testing within a week from now or so. We will be leaving this post opened for a while until we will see we have a good list of users joining the beta group and once we reached the number of users that will be needed for the beta group we will submit beta group invitation and close this request for beta testers post.

I’m afraid we still can’t give much more details about this new application, apart from the fact it is going to be a must-have tool for BlackBerry owners that I’m sure users would love!

At the same time, we received several bug reports from different users indicating some of their recurring appointments aren’t showing properly on all days they should occur at. Since this bug was effecting one of the core features of Calendar Pro – displaying your agenda properly, recurring or regular – we started investigating this report quickly with the great help of Randolph, a member at our forums. Thanks Randolph for the help!!

Today we are pleased to release version 1.2.07, including a hot-fix for this bug report.

To make sure your agenda content is showing perfectly and avoid missing important meetings, we invite (and recommend) all users to update to this new hot-fix update. As with all of our previous updates, this new update is available for free to all registered users.

This is all for today’s new Calendar Pro release. We are of course working on some larger goals, but since this bug was filed as crucial report, we decided to release this minor hot-fix release before moving ahead with our upcoming larger updates. This new version introduce a great list of new features and improvements, with the largest new addition for this new release – Projects support! Using the new Projects feature you can create hierarchical-tasks and arrange your tasks in tasks-groups, called Projects. Continue reading to find the complete details.

As with all of our updates until today, this new update is available for free to all of our Calendar Pro registered users – full upgrade details are included at the bottom of this post.

Without any further ado, let’s start taking a closer look at what’s new with Calendar Pro v1.2!

What’s new with SBSH Calendar 1.2 for BlackBerry?

1. Project (aka Hierarchical-Tasks) – Starting with this new version, when entering the Tasks view, you will see a new option to create Project items. This option comes in addition to the ability to create regular tasks.

Calendar Pro Projects Support

Project items includes only a title and have the ability to store sub-tasks inside them. Each Project item displays an indication about its completion state, reflecting the total completion percentage of all tasks stored inside this project. As you complete more tasks inside a project, the project completion status will proceed – until the project is done and reaches 100% completion. This way, helping you get a better overview about the project progress!

Using Projects, you can manage hierarchical tasks using Calendar Pro Tasks view. Now you can create hierarchical tasks, reassign existing tasks to other projects, move tasks between projects and much more!

With the new Projects Management support, you can now start managing even complex projects, such that involve multiple tasks and goals, arranging them hierarchically and shifting tasks from one project to another as the project’s execution takes place.

How can I use the new Projects? When entering the Tasks view, you will find a “New Project” button on the bottom touch tray bar on touch devices, or via the menu in non-touch screen devices. Pressing this option will create a new project item – this item that can store sub tasks within it.

In order to add new sub-tasks to a project, press the project item itself on the touch screen, or via the menu on non-touch screen BlackBerry devices. This will pop up a new dialog box, which allows you to add new sub tasks to this project item, or edit the project’s title. Alternatively, when editing an existing task you will find a new option to move the task inside (/or outside of) a project; This option lists all projects that currently exists and also include the option to move this existing task outside any project, in case you wish to remove the task from a project.

Some technical comments about Projects – For now, Project items are only visible in the Tasks view, and are suitable for those situations in which you wish to group several tasks together. Tasks stored inside a single project can have different due dates, different categories etc. Their inclusion in the same project doesn’t impose any restrictions on the individual tasks.

To implement project support, the new version of Calendar Pro generates non-visible categories based on the project names. These categories are transparent when using Calendar Pro on your BlackBerry device. However, these categories are fully visible on your PC when syncing your calendar; this way, you can still easily view all tasks that belong to a certain project on your PC as well – by simply filtering based on the category with the appropriate project name!

Since hierarchical tasks structure is not an official structure, there is no real way to sync this structure over to the PC. By using this new transparent-categories concept, the user can still transfer the projects to their PC, and easily filter all tasks that belong to a certain project on their PC so very easily! This also provides another layer of backup for all projects you created – since your projects information is synced automatically with your PC each time you sync your calendar!

2. Optimized filters interface – Filters are one of the many powerful tools Calendar Pro offers, and in this new version we’ve continued to optimize the Filters interface even further.

The first noticeable change is when entering the Filters dialog: if you currently have a filter assigned to the task, the current filter categories will remain pre-selected when returning to the filters dialog. This way, reviewing the currently selected filter setup becomes easier and more efficient. This also makes it easier to make changes to the current filter without having to re-select the desired filter categories from the beginning.

Furthermore, users with touch screen devices (Storm/Torch) will find a new touch-tray bar added to the Filters screen. Using the new touch tray bar, you can easily clear the currently selected filter, as well as save or cancel your filter selection swiftly.

3. Recurring appointments improvements – Following major reconstruction and the implementation of several fixes to our recurring appointments engine, now recurring object are loaded faster than ever!

Several different bugs that were reported regarding recurring appointments with the previous version were also fixed as part of the work on this new version

4. About/Registration screen optimization – This change probably won’t have much effect for users, but still worth a small mention As part of the work on the new version we’ve also optimized the design of Calendar Pro’s About and Registration dialogs, which were somewhat outdated and left behind in recent updates. The new About and Registration dialogs match the overall appearance of the new Calendar Pro

5. Optimized layout and bug fixes – Calendar Pro for BlackBerry v1.2 introduces several layout improvements throughout the different views, for an improved user experience. The task check-boxes have been moved to the left side of the screen on the Tasks view for a more consistent look and to better accommodate the new projects addition. We’ve optimized the display for different font sizes that are now configurable via the Calendar Pro Settings and much more.

In addition to all this, we’ve worked very hard to fix our pending bug reports and optimize our code, making this the most stable, robust and fast version of Calendar Pro we’ve had up until now!

Random thoughts and future plans

Just before closing this exciting new release post, I would like to say a big thank you to all of our beta team! We’ve received some really great feedback from our beta group during the testing phase, feedback that truly helped us optimize this new release and bring it to this final optimized version released today!

Now that we’ve accomplished our project-supporting version release, we plan to get back to the drawing table and focus on new features that would enhance Calendar Pro’s time management capabilities and make it even a more robust tool than it already is! We have a great list of pending features that we would like to achieve with our upcoming updates.
