The new SafeWallet for iOS, with iPhone & iPad support – is here! Just a few moments before the weekend starts we got an email from Apple letting us now the new SafeWallet for iOS update got approved – this was quick testing from Apple, thanks! What a great way to start the weekend!

In addition to the awesome new looking logo, today’s new SafeWallet release brings some great new features you’ve all been waiting for – starting with a complete and dedicated iPad version design, new auto-lock timeout feature, password generator tool that helps you generate powerful and unique passwords and much more!

Like all updates, the new SafeWallet is available for free to all of our SafeWallet registered users. Furthermore, those of you using both an iPhone & iPad will be glad to hear that we designed our new release as Universal app – meaning the new release automatically supports both iPhone and iPad devices, so there is no separate purchase involved to start using the new iPad version! Just update SafeWallet on your iPad to the latest version and you’ll enjoy all the great new user-interface and features available with the new iPad version!

Let’s start taking a closer look at the awesome new version features.

SafeWallet for iOS v2.2 – Password manager for iPhone & iPad!

1. iPad support – There are plenty of great new features with the new SafeWallet release, but the largest of them all is the new iPad support. The new SafeWallet is designed as a universal app – meaning, an app that automatically supports both iPhone & iPad devices. This approach benefits with users – one app (and one purchase) to work on all your iOS devices!

The new iPad interface implementation isn’t just a simple “scale-up” of the SafeWallet for iPhone design & controls. The new SafeWallet for iPad brings a well-crafted design, taking advantage of all the great hardware features the iPad has to offer. This new iPad SafeWallet delivers the best password management and user experience out there for iPad users!

One such great UI-feature you’ll find with the new iPad SafeWallet is the ability to review your entire wallet in one screen – without having to drill-down within folders (like the iPhone SafeWallet flow). This flow lets you find passwords much faster and get a much clearer overview of your SafeWallet content. Another great iPad specific UI improvement is the in-place card editing – letting you edit cards much more faster and all done within the card editor screen.

There are plenty of additional great new features with the new iPad version, which I won’t be able to review them all here – but I’m sure you’ll find those as you start working with the new iPad SafeWallet.

2. Auto-lock timeout – The new Auto-lock timeout feature let’s you define how many seconds SafeWallet should keep your wallet data opened from the time SafeWallet is moved to the background (that is – when you switch back to the Home screen or switch to a different app).

To explain why this new feature is so useful, let’s look at the following common usage scenario: One of the most common uses of SafeWallet is copying different logins from it and pasting this login information in a different app (let it be your Skype login, PayPal, Safari web-sites etc.). In most cases, you’ll most likely need to copy-paste a few pieces of data (say username & password). Doing so, require switching between SafeWallet and that second app back-and-forth twice or more.

Up until today, each time you switched back-and-forth with this second app, SafeWallet would have automatically locked your wallet, requiring you to re-enter your wallet password each time, and then having to find the password details you’re looking for each time. Even if you just switched and pasted the first field of information two seconds ago! (How annoying is that??).

Using the new Auto-lock timeout, SafeWallet will no longer lock your wallet when switching between apps right away! Instead, it will preserve the last active state with your wallet opened for the defined timeout X seconds (set to 30 seconds by default). This way, you can copy-paste fields and switch between SafeWallet and other apps back-&-forth for the defined timeout without having to re-unlock your wallet each time!

Although this feature is somewhat in the back-end side.. it makes SafeWallet so much more useful is so many ways! I really hope you’ll enjoy this new addition!

3. Password Generator – A powerful password generator tool is now available! Using the new password generator you can generate powerful and unique password on the fly – either for general use or for inclusion within new card’s password field.

The new password generator is accessible in two ways: First, via the Tools section as a stand alone tool – letting you generate stand-alone passwords on the fly. Second, via the Card Editor when editing password fields. On the right side of password fields you will find two new buttons, clicking the left will generate a new password and automatically place it in the password field in a single click, and pressing the right side button will bring up the Password Generator tool, letting you configure the desired password before generating it.

Different sites and services may require different type of passwords. Using the new Password Generator you can easily configure the characteristics of the passwords it generates: length of generated password (between 2 to 32) & include/exclude upper case/lower case/digits/special chars. This gives you full control of the strength of the generated password and lets you generate passwords for any site or service.

4. Optimized engine & code improvements – In addition to all the great new features above, we also re-worked major parts of SafeWallet core engine code. Making this the fastest and most efficient SafeWallet release we had until today! Plenty of additional improvements were implemented which you’ll find while trying out this new release.

Registered SafeWallet users will find the new update waiting for them in the App Store app as a free update – just use the Update option to upgrade to the latest & greatest for free. Since the new version supports both iPhone and iPad devices, users using both iPhone and iPad devices can also enjoy this new release on both devices without having to pay for a separate license for your iPad – the same license will work on both your devices right away! This is also correct for new users – one license for all your iOS devices.
