SafeWallet Browser Extensions & Multiple Logins Tutorial

One of the frequent requests we get for SafeWallet browser extensions is to add support for sites with multiple logins – that is, having an automatic & simple way to switch between different logins in the same site, for those cases that you have more than one account for the same site.
For example, I have 3 different logins to Gmail (personal & 2 business accounts). SafeWallet browser extension adds automatic login filling, which really makes it super simple to login to Gmail, but what happens if I’d like to switch login to one of my other two accounts?
The great news are that SafeWallet browser extensions (Chrome, Firefox & IE) already include awesome (and completely automated!) support for working with multiple logins – it is so automated that most users are not familiar with this feature. This short tutorial is here to get you familiar with this feature, and help our advanced users get more out of SafeWallet!
Get the most out of your SafeWallet Password Manager – Multiple Logins support
Storing your first login – Moving ahead with my example above, say I just installed SafeWallet on my Chrome and I logged-in to my personal Gmail account for the first time. After my first successful login SafeWallet presents a notification bar within my Chrome asking me whether I’d like to store this login safely for future use. After I press Yes, SafeWallet will now automatically fill my Gmail login each time I re-visit Gmail, so I’ll never need to memorize my login again nor to fill it.
Up to here everything is nice and simple – we’ve got one single login stored for Gmail in our SafeWallet, and SafeWallet auto-fills this login for us each time we visit it.
(*FYI – Once storing a login, SafeWallet will auto-fill your login on any browser or device you use with the same wallet account. So you can easily login to your sites from your PC, Mac or mobile!).
Storing your second (third, forth..) logins! – The awesome thing about SafeWallet is that it can store more than a single login per site! This is done completely automatically, so most users won’t even notice this behavior. Let’s continue with my example, say I just logged-out my personal Gmail account and logged-in using one of my business accounts for the first time.
This time, after the successful login, SafeWallet will present a slightly different notification bar, asking me whether I’d like to store this new login as an additional login for the same site.
The notification bar also mentions that storing this new login won’t remove or modify your already existing login for this site. Press Yes to store this new login as an additional login for the same site.
Auto-filling with multiple logins (or, where the magic happens) – The last part in the process is how SafeWallet auto-fill your logins when visiting sites for which you have more than a single login. Say I just entered Gmail site again, for which I already have both my personal and business accounts stored. Like before, SafeWallet will auto-fill my login for this site, but, this time it also presents a new notification bar with a button that lets you easily switch between your different logins. Pressing the “Switch login” button brings a menu with a list of logins available for this site – selecting a different login from this menu will switch the auto-filled login information in the site itself, so you can super-easily switch between all your different accounts for this site!
SafeWallet algorithm also learns your browsing behavior and tries to select the initial preferred login for each site you visit. This way, ideally, in most cases you won’t even need to switch between your different logins. We still have some way to go to improve this algorithm though – so you can expect better automatic selection of the login used by SafeWallet for sites with multiple logins with future versions.
